Good People Run are super stoked to announce that we have partnered with Riverhead Rampage trail event, run by our editor Matt and his wife Rebecca. The event has a community engagement approach, is utterly ‘grassroots’ and gives back the proceeds to local schools to promote healthy and active lifestyles.
Where larger events are now squeezing the soul and culture out of the running scene with brands and profit, we are all about promoting the smaller more community focussed events, so really proud to be involved with and supporting the Riverhead Rampage in various ways. We will be at this years event!
This annual event takes place within an hours drive from central Auckland and on 12th March. I visited (Paul) the 2015 event and was utterly blown away with the overall vibe of the smaller gathering, organisation, mix of runners, family focus, and the feeling of really being ‘off the grid’ while being so close to the city. The Riverhead Rampage is testament to smaller events still having a place in our running community and culture without all the clutter and noise, to just ‘get outside and run’ while helping others.
The Riverhead Rampage offers 5km, 10km walks or runs, and a longer 21km run. Check out Matt and the crew crew at http://www.Riverheadrampage.co.nz/, while how Punk music and running saved his life here.
