What GPR are asking for is honesty, and an opportunity to tell your story with photography. Let’s share this ‘crazy love hate thing’ we call running!
There was a time when the ultra racing scene (longer distances past marathon) in New Zealand was grass roots. 2011 – 2013 was the time that I (Paul Petch) started to take my commercial sports photography seriously. I was fortunate to document @annafrosty smashing records 2600m on top of Mt Taranaki, @antonkrupicka visiting Aotea and racing the Tarawera Ultra, where my imagery helped it to the international stage. I also shot the infamous Northburn 100 miler, Northface 100 and other lower key events.
My personal focus went something like this “tell the story of the runners” so that was that, and i spent 2+ years travelling all over NZ and Australia with elite runners, with much success. My work helped raise the profile of the fledgling sport and positive messages it embodied. I had a blast!
