I’m not at events shooting much these days- but when I do I’m looking for something a bit different. A connection to the purpose, the goal, the silent nod to form and function or simply the realness of humans using motion to go forward.
Mike at Temposhot (and GPR shooter) invited me to come along to the 2016 National Club XC Champs at the Domain Park a month or so ago, and it was a great few hours in the sunshine. To see such talented athletes struggling out on the soft ground with some wee upward pushes was testament to the intensity of this course.
Their form was like poetry in motion as the groups lapped the Domain Park hanging onto the leaders as long as they could. As much as XC running is pretty low key in NZ, the vibe and support for each other was electric- but very controlled- as if the history and status of the race was as important as the running itself.
Need I say- it was a privilege to shoot such a great event and so much history. Feel free to share the images, or use on social media- but please credit.
