Good quality results for our clothing range has been the toughest part of the GPR journey so far. Why exactly?
The various technologies available for clothing manufacturing/ finishing and how they work (or lack of in NZ!) has been a steep learning curve for us all, and not all suppliers equal. But we feel like we are getting there. Sure, we will always be learning about manufacturing as GPR grows, and what we know currently is just a drop in the ocean, but we have started!
We visited one of the local suppliers today who are helping GPR in various ways to pick up the last lot of our launch range. We are using local people in Auckland as much as possible to finish our products because we want to offset the realities of buying goods imported from offshore. (We buy these local, yet of course these items are made overseas.)
We also want to pay people what they are worth who matter to the GPR story in so many ways, and have their own stories to tell and bills to pay. Talking with “Ann” today who was working on our range of hats, we found out that herself and Dad developed the very technology she was using….26 years ago! Every second Ann was smiling with pride and stated that “there has only been one item i could not work on”.
